Welcome to 2013

Wow! I can't believe that it is already 2013! And almost a year since my last real post! So much has happened in the last year - so many blessings! And I really will start posting some projects. For now, I have one that I did (found the idea on Pinterest). I did a Children's Sermon just before Christmas, and I wanted to reinforce to the children that Christmas is a celebration of Jesus' birthday. So I made these cute little tealight birthday cakes and tied each box up with ribbon. I made 24 so that the kids each got one, but first got to hand them out to some of the people in church. The kids loved giving gifts to random folks! I didn't make them as decorated as I would have liked, but I made 24 of them. In one day. At a very busy time of year!

As I mentioned in my last post, we have a new granddaughter. Abbigail Lynn was born on June 1, 2012, joining big sister Addison (age 2). Their parents are my son Andrew and his wife Alison. This year, I will once again be blessed with a new granddaughter, as my daughter Sarah and her husband Travis are expecting in mid-June. The new baby will join big brother Coltin (age 4) and big sister Adelyn (age 3). June will also be a special month because my daughter Bree will be marrying her beloved Sabrina. I am so excited to be planning such a joyous wedding with them. I am working on ideas for the invitations, etc.!

What a wonderful idea! These look wonderful, especially the box to hold them. And the "You are the light of the world." sentiment inside is so perfect for the project. This is genius! Hugs, Curt

Sue, thanks for the second pic detailing how to afix the top cake layer! I was threatening to make a cake out of these fun twinklers when a ceramic cake with holes in the side and a built in top candle came into my shopping range. Twinklers were purchased to go inside the ceramic three layer cake to save the receiver from kid 'tips' and fire. This idea is a storage friendly recycling low calorie frequent gifting idea highlighted by your JC's B-day celebration ...now for the Scripture of the day to be printed on the belly band embellishing the cake. I'll play with font size! to encourage an easy read / memorization sweet treat for the mind and soul. Thank you!

Very cute! It must have been a lot of work to make so many of them, but I bet they were very excited to receive them.

Susan, this project is too adorable!

Hello, my sweet-sweet friend! Thanks so much for stopping by to check on me. I've really missed you too. I plan on being around for awhile so keep the prayers coming that things continue to go well; I've had such a rough going these past months and it's so good to be back.

Glad to see you're still happily crafting. I would have hated to come back and not be able to visit with you.

Still getting in some hellos to others I've been out of touch with but I'll be back again very soon!

Hugs!
