I have somehow acquired a few new stamping toys and have been playing with them. The fall semester of school is in full swing (act ually, past mid-term) and I love my classes.Take care, and check back in the next week or so for:
-some fun techniques and creations
-an update on my family (I have a new granddaughter)
-maybe a surprise or two

Another Post and Another Technique

As promised, I am back for the third day in a row. I know, you simply cannot believe it! I have a few fun things to share with you today. First, as also promised, I have two more shaving cream cards. The first one is dedicated to Sunghee Chon of Little Potato Studio. A couple of weeks ago, she had some blog candy - the "Just Because" stamp set from a*muse studios. And I won! It is a gorgeous stamp set and I was thrilled to win it. I made this card using that beautiful set. I stamped the images in Memento Tuxedo Black on the outside, and repeated them with blackberry (a*muse) on the inside. If you like it, give Sunghee a little love, because she is a kind and generous soul.
The next card uses more of the shaving cream paper. I stamped the large image from "Sunny Side of Life" (at least, I think that's the name). I also added some of the butterflies and the sentiment. Can you see that I love butterflies? The next project I have was inspired by a project that I saw on Carolyn's Creative Corner. I stamped an image from a*muse "Charming Gardeners" (one of my absolute fave sets) onto scratch art paper with VersaMark, then embossed the image with sparkly gold EP. I then carefully scratched the black off of the inside of the flower images to reveal the colors. Next, I used clear EP over the entire sheet to keep anymore black from scratching off. I was so excited that I made another, and it is quite different. I cropped the papers and made them into simple cards. I absolutely love these and can't wait to do some more. If you decide to try it, let me know so that I can see what you come up with! Have a great week, my friends.

SWS #11 - A Little Mess - But Big Fun

3/10/2012 11:00:00 PM Edit This 2 Comments »
Hi! Thank you for stopping by. Did you remember to spring forward with your clocks? I sure hate to lose an hour of my weekend. Today's post is really fun stuff! This week's challenge is using the shaving cream technique to create beautiful unique paper. You can check out Sami's blog for instructions on how to do this. It is a bit messy, but it sure is fun. I used the reinkers that I could find (I have a lot more, but can't find them - am I the only one with this problem?).
Here is a sampling of the papers that I created with this technique. They are all so different, and I can't wait to make more.I used one piece to make a CAS Easter card using the SP&Co Happy Easter stamp. Added a little bling, and voila!Be sure to give this technique a try, and link your project to the SWS blog. Sami always has a special prize to give away, and we would love to see what you can come up with!
And be sure to check back here tomorrow to see another shaving cream card and another beautiful technique. In the meantime, have a great day.

Here is my card for this month's release. I used the Mustache Madness stamp set and My Mind's Eye Dilly Dally paper (available in the SP&Co March kit). I pushed the envelope on green as a color, and leaned toward blue, but I love this color! To soften the mustache, I inked it with pigment ink, and then dabbed the stamp with crinkled plastic wrap. I like how it turned out, don't you?

Make sure you check out the SP Blog to see what Samantha did with the new stamps! We also have the Stamp Team and the Challenge Team teaming up today to show you lots of amazing projects with the newest stamp sets!

I am so happy that you stopped in to say hello. And I apologize for being missing for so long. Let's just say that life sometimes gets in the way of everything and leave it at that. For the record, I am fine and so is my family, so thank you for your concern!I have a few cards to share with you, and I promise a "real" post soon. The first card is for this week's challenge over at SWS - St. Patty's Day. I used some stamps from SP&Co, which you can check out here. They have a wonderful selection of high quality stamps made here in the good old US of A.My next cards are from previous challenges: embossing (CAS card with a background and a simple sentiment and some scoring - stamps from SP&Co), and a nice masculine distressed card.
I hope that you are well and happy. Take care, and stop in again on the 10th for the reveal of some new SP&Co stamps!

February Stamp Release Blog Hop!

I have been so busy, and the time has been sailing by. But I just couldn't miss the opportunity to share in the fun of the February SP & Co./Scrapmaster's Paradise Blog Hop. I am so happy that you are here. If you are following the hop, you should have arrived from Bonnie's blog.
I want to show you how versatile this wonderful Journal This stamp set is. I know that it is wonderful for journalling those scrapbooking layouts, but I just haven't done much scrappin' in the past few years. So I thought I would give you another idea. Some of my stampin' friends made some wonderful card books, and I thought that would be fun. The book is made up of 12 envelopes (I used envelopes for 5.5 x 8.5 cards), one for each month. Each envelope has a place to list birthdays, anniversaries, and other events for the month. Then you can put cards in the envelope so that you are all set to get them out on time (something that I never do - LOL). I also used the SP&Co Circletastic Background and Round Sentiments I to decorate the book. I hope that you like it and give it a try.
This month's color is Bright Red! After you're done hopping around today, make sure you play along with this month's Red challenge (click here for details) for a chance to win some awesome SP and Company prizes!

SWS Challenge #4 and KSU Cards

1/22/2012 06:58:00 PM Edit This 3 Comments »
Hi Everyone! I hope that your week is off to a good start. I haven't had much creative time lately, because I am in the process of decluttering. Let me tell you, after 30+ years in the same house, and raising 4 kids, we have a lot of stuff. Okay, okay, I'll admit it, a lot of it is from scrapbooking, stamping, and sewing. And, maybe after I declutter a bit, I will be able to find what I need (or maybe not).
So, I have a new SWS challenge, involving coloring. I wanted to do a lot more coloring. You know, some Copic, some colored pencil, etc., but that didn't happen. One of these days... What I did was a simple card (and I can't remember where I got this adorable frog). I love frog images. A little layering, and a sentiment from SP&Co., and voila! Check out Sami's website here to see what some of the other DT members have done. Join in on the fun, and you could win a gorgeous and versatile stamp set!I also have some note cards to show you. I made a set of 20 cards for my daughter, a proud KSU grad (Master's in Landscape Architecture). She wanted some thank you and some multi-purpose cards. These are just a few of what I gave her. I made them pretty simple and used a lot of scoring for decorations. I hope that some of what I have here today inspires you.
Have a great week, and be kind to yourself.

One Challenge and Some Cards

Catchy title, Huh? I know, pretty weak. Actually, I have one new challenge to present to you, and I have a card for that challenge and then a couple of cards from previous challenges (which I didn't post in time).
This week, the Stamping With Sami (SWS) challenge is one with a ton of flexibility. The challenge is to create your project in blue and white. Easy peasy, right? Check out Sami's post, and see what the other designers have done. Then create your project and link it up. There will be a nice prize for one of you (randomly drawn from the entries). For my project, I made a card for a friend of mine. He has been plagued with diabetes-related health issues, so I want to cheer him up. This card uses the Bold Houndstooth Background and Bold Sentiments I, both available from SP & Company. I love the added touch of baker's twine (also available from SP & Co. in a big choice of colors).
My other cards are from Sami's past two challenges. I got the cards submitted to her, but didn't get my posts done. One of these days I will regale you with the tale of my last couple of months. Absolutely cra-cra, but not necessarily in a bad way (does this post just leave you wanting more? Yeah, I thought so. Toss out the hook and reel them in). Thank you for stopping in and leaving some love. I hope that your week is blessed with love and joy.

Here is my project with the wonderful Little Floral Background stamp. What a versatile stamp! For my project, I used Versamark to stamp the image on white CS. I then embossed using white pearl EP. I then sponged over the embossing with two shades of blue pigment ink (darker toward the outside, and lighter toward the middle). The sentiment is from the Bold Sentiments I set, and I finished it off with a sheer ribbon and bow. I hope this project inspires you!
